Learning support assistant – Mrs Ghanehe Afkhamifard
Welcome to Year 3, where we begin our journey in Key Stage 2 and grow in independence. This year marks a significant transition for your child, building upon the foundational skills that they have already developed in Key Stage 1, as well as enhancing their proficiency and deepening their knowledge and understanding across a broad and balanced curriculum.
Our year 3 curriculum welcomes us to new and intriguing topics, exploring the fascinating Stone Age in history, learning about different locations around the world in geography and becoming geologists in science learning all about rocks and fossils sparking curiosity about the world we live in.It also opens the door to learn a new language as the children welcome the opportunity to communicate in Spanish and explore Spanish culture and traditions.
Please see our long-term plan and termly topic webs below for further information about what your child will be learning this year.
Year 3 Expectations
We can’t wait to see your child grow academically, socially and personally this year; and so we would encourage you to be involved in your child’s learning journey to support them in reaching their full potential. Please ensure that your child reads at home a minimum of three times a week and engages with home learning tasks including Timestables Rockstars (which will support your child’s fluency in number).
Water bottles and snack:
Children should bring a water bottle to school each day. A free fruit snack is available for morning break but the children are welcome to bring their own snack in from home. Please ensure only health snacks are brought to school.
